IDEA CAFFE IN WOOLOOWIN HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

This tiny Italian cafe is annexed to a weatherboard Vet’s surgery and resembles a snappily converted car port. Seating is either at a handful of tables on the concrete floor or on stools at the window bar and there are dog bowls of water provided out front as well as a bike rack (handy for those dropping in to refuel from the nearby Kedron Brook bikeway).

With a menu as small as the venue, the focus is on the ‘all day’ breakfast which runs until 2pm and features delicious cannoli which is made in-house and served with ricotta and dark chocolate, muesli, cheese kransky with free range eggs and the standard big breakfast.

Lunch is confined to a range of toasted paninis ($10) with fillings such as provolone, mushroom, ruffle cream, sun-dried tomato and rocket, a couple of freshly made salads including caprese, and brushetta – traditional or with gorgonzola and walnuts.

Well-executed coffees are made with their home brand of beans, which are also available to buy, and there’s a range of Italian soft drinks and fruit nectars.
