Now

Judith Wright Centre

Gracing the stage of the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts early November will be the Blue Roo Theatre Company's latest production, Now.

With only three performances, this brief but powerfully-enriching season features a 26-member ensemble cast and is set to delight audiences as they take us on a beautifully honest and open journey with Now.

The Now Show is hosted by Maggie Moment and Tony Today, who share with us a mix of dreams and realities as the cast go about their everyday tasks, things such as fishing, protests, bus stops, and more, with wonderment and confusion at the same time. The mystifying sorrow of sadness and grief, and the joy and positivity of memories are important parts of life that unfold on stage as part of the tale.

Embracingly, a 10-piece orchestra featuring popular Brisbane musicians supports the cast superbly and delivers another layer to this already irresistible performance.

For those not yet familiar with the works of Blue Roo Theatre Company, the group was founded in 2009 and showcases the artistic talents and dedication of those in the performing arts who have physical disabilities, intellectual impairment and those who are living with mental health issues. Their past shows have received rave reviews and Blue Roo Theatre Company enjoy a committed following of theatre-goers.

This heart-warming show will have you laughing, crying, and on a rollercoaster of all the emotions in between as you're reminded that life is not a dress rehearsal. It's live, and it's Now.

Nice to know - $5 flat-rate parking is available at Secure-A-Spot in Berwick St (some conditions apply) and must be booked online prior to arrival. See the Plan a Visit page on JWC's website for full details.
