Capalaba
HOBBYMEDO HAS CLOSED AT THE END OF 2017.
Hobbymedo in Capalaba is the first of its kind in Queensland - a hobby activity centre where members of the public can meet like-minded creative folk while undertaking arts and craft or DIY projects.
Open daily, Hobbymedo is the brainchild of mother and son duo, Sharon and Jake Anderson, who have a number of hobbies between them. Providing a safe and comfortable workspace, Hobbymedo is well-equipped with tools and materials for a variety of activities including sewing, embroidering, model making, 3D printing, leather working and woodworking, including sharpening accessories.
The craft area, which caters for ages 6+, has craft tables, drafting tables, drawing paper, tracing paper, pencils, acrylic paints, paint brushes, palettes, hot glue guns, craft glue, scissors, styrofoam cutters, box cutters, cutting mats and more.
Teenagers and adults have full access to the workspace including sewing machines, computers, printers, spray paint booths and dremel stations. There are tools for woodwork and leatherwork, wire benders, jewellery pliers, glass cutters, clamps and picture frame joiners; while power tools range from bandsaws and drop saws to wood lathes, belt sanders and router tables.
If you don't have a hobby or DIY project already but would like to get hands on and learn something new, Hobbymedo hosts fun workshops throughout the year such as crocheting, knitting, leather working and jewellery making. Learn how to create a living moss terrarium, spirograph string art, macramé pot plant hanger or recycled pallet wine rack. All tools and materials are included in the workshop price.
Nice to know - Minors are included on adult membership at no extra cost.
