Same Same But Different
Corinda
SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT HAS CLOSED.
Same Same But Different in Corinda is an absolute foodie’s dream of a family-friendly café from one of Brisbane’s best chefs Kym Machin and partner Jade.
Located on a corner of the Corinda’s bustling shopping strip along Oxley Road, the spacious and light contemporary eatery raises the culinary bar to new heights for the area and is well worth a trip for those from neighbouring suburbs.
Here at Same Same but Different an All Day Breakfast borders on fine dining but without the price tag, as diners are treated to choices such as ‘Morning Glory’ – mandarin, camucamu and basil sorbet, aerated yoghurt, kefir jelly, mint and summer fruits, ‘Same Same Honey Smacks’ – honey roasted puffed organic grains and kernels, acai and banana parfait, LSA, almond milk, cinnamon and banana smoothie or ‘Pablo Diablo’ – haloumi, potato, sour cream and hash cake, slow pulled roasted pork, avocado, chared corn and black bean salsa with spiced fried egg and green mole. Even the avo on toast, ‘Another Bloody Avo', is a treat – smashed avo with Danish feta, whipped garlic, toasted pepitas and greens on sourdough with lime.
And for those who like their traditional big breakfasts, there’s a ‘Taste of Everything’ encompassing hash potato cakes, free range eggs, double smoked bacon, chorizo, breakfast sausages, roasted tomatoes or mushrooms and sourdough.
Meanwhile little foodies (aged under 12yrs) can enjoy a top all-day breakfast for just $10* including a kids juice, milkshake or water: a Kids Big Breakfast; Toast and Cereal; Farm Eggs cooked how you like with toast soldiers; Avo on Toast or Ham & Cheese Toastie.
Come lunchtime there’s a choice of 3 delectable salads – Roasted Wagyu Sirloin with caramelised garlic cream, heirloom carrots, pickled onions, rye croutons, local greens and mustard seed dressing; Pan-fried Haloumi with roasted beetroot, quinoa, cashew cream, salad leaves and Za’ater spiced nut seed crunch; or Poached Free Range Chicken breast with pistachios, shaved fennel, avo, apple, celery, endive and organic apple cider.
Same Same also has 2 signature house burgers - the Southern Fried Chicken Burger served with chips and gravy or the ‘Same Same’ beef burger with chips and ketchup.
And for children under 12 years, a special lunch menu offers choices of organic sausage in bread, Mini Cheese Burger or Southern Fried Chicken pieces, all of which come with chips and tomato sauce, a Snooze (in various coconut-based flavours) and kids juice, milkshake or water, all for $15*.
When it comes to sweet stuff, same Same But Different’s dessert menu is fittingly titled ‘Roll Me Out of Here’ with temptations such as Chocolate Brownie & chocolate ganache with Lick! double vanilla bean ice-cream and Peanut Butter S’mores Waffles with toasted marshmallows, Lick! peanut butter ice-cream, chocolate ganache and Vanilla Dutch waffles.
There's also sweet and savoury treats behind the counter to enjoy with a cuppa, including muffins, lemon meringue tarts and the likes of gluten-free Guava cake, Persian Love Cake and Walnut Brownies.
Not just a foodie heaven, Same Same But Different has a cracking and varied drinks list, starting with well-brewed Toby’s Estate coffee every which way, including double ristretto and house-made cold press coffee (iced latte or long blend) as well as Dirty Chai, Chai late and hot chocolate, iced mocha, coffee or chocolate.
