Physics Observatory Summer Holiday Program

The Cube

The Cube’s Physics Observatory Summer Holiday Program is a fantastic, free hands-on school holiday program for kids aged 3-12 (and families) to explore, experiment and engage with physics.

Even kids who are not fans of physics will find something to love in this program, which will be based around giant two-storey interactive screens and featuring ball runs, paper planes, treasure hunts and even a mini-film festival.

Physics Observatory Summer Holiday Program

A highlight of the program is the Physics Fun Day on Jan 7 from 10am-4pm, with activities such as hula hooping with the Vulcana Kids, a live show by 'Science Steve, a 3D space flight simulator game, and physics demonstrations.

Other daily activities include:

Physics Observatory Digital Project - Great for those who are fascinated by Space and the Solar System - children can touch the screens and experiment and move objects in different gravity levels, depending on which planet they select.

Take to the Sky with Paper Planes - Children can get busy folding to see how high, fast and far their plane can fly. Along the way they can learn how physics affects the flight of the plane, from gravitational forces and aerodynamic lift to air drag.

Ball Run- What do speed, energy and motion have in common? Physics! Design a ball run with friends and family, using tubes and everyday materials, and compare how far and fast your ball can travel.

Physics Wiz Treasure Hunt - Children can go on a Physics Treasure Hunt, collect their map on arrival and discovering hidden elements of the Physics Observatory summer holiday program with family and friends. Those who find all the answers receive a sticker.

Physics Observatory Summer Holiday Program

Little Big Shots - Little Big Shots is Australia's major annual and travelling children's film festival. Little Big Shots have curated a special fun-filled science program for The Cube, featuring the best in local and international shorts and animations. Perfect for families and kids!

Minute Physics - Simply put: cool physics explained in minutes with time-lapsed drawings!
