THE LITTLE PANTRY HAS CHANGED HANDS AS OF AUGUST 2019 AND IS NOW BLUE BEAR COFFEEHOUSE.
Inhabiting a tiny historical corner store in New Farm's leafy depths is this uber cute cafe with a conscience that serves food and coffee worth trawling the length of James St for.
Inside the space is small, with minimalist stool seating at benches or one large feature couch to luxuriate on. Chilled music and a mini library of exchangeable books set a laid-back vibe but behind the scenes, attention to detail is all-encompassing.
From the fully compostable takeaway cups to the organic, free range and locally sourced ingredients, thought pervades everything – there is no charge for soy, coffee is Ali Reserve from Di Bella and the range of organic teas come in double-walled tea glasses.
Dishing up an all day foodie's breakfast is the raison d'etre, otherwise dishes like pasta with pipis in white wine sauce, tomato consommé and Turkish sandwiches filled with chicken, lemon mayo, roast tomato and provolone are the order of the day.
Cyclists are taken care of with bike racks and dogs are welcomed with a bowl of water in the ample space outside.
