Every neighbourhood needs a Saabi – a historic weatherboard shop containing a charming little café with congenial hosts, a full dogs' water bowl on the pavement, pocket-sized courtyard, weathered colonial dresser stuffed with vintage and handmade gifts for sale and home made eats - delicious tangy salads, hot squashed rolls, fresh baked muffins, exquisite desserts and Veneziano coffee.
It's all too easy to drive past and miss it which is probably what the locals would prefer but word has clearly travelled about this little treasure, tucked away at the Lutwyche Rd end of a tree-lined street of sprawling Queenslanders.
The café is named after their rescue dog, Saabi whose owners are big on benevolent causes themselves - on Sundays once a month they host fundraisers for charity at their café. So Saabi's doesn't just have soul by the bucketful, it has heart too.
