Play On: A Closing Ceremony
UQ Art Museum
UQ Art Museum is hosting a fantastic free community event featuring some of the state’s elite athletes in a special 'closing ceremony' to mark the end of its popular Play On: The art of sport exhibition.
Attending this family-friendly afternoon will be Tara Hinchliffe and Jemma Mi Mi from the Queensland Firebirds, along with Football Queensland and the Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association Queensland – so there'll be something for all aspiring young athletes.
The all-ages event will also feature a coaching clinic from Queensland NRL players, the chance to pass the ball with the Queensland Reds, games, a scavenger hunt, bouncy castle, face painting, a ribbon making workshop with exhibiting artist Lauren Brincat and more.
While there, attendees can take a final look at the Art Museum’s Play on: The art of sport exhibition, which is a fresh and sometimes challenging perspective on a national obsession.
It includes paintings, sculpture, video, drawings and mixed media installations, which ask questions about the intersection of sport with culture, politics and human rights.
For sustenance throughout the afternoon some of Brisbane's best food trucks will be on site and to keep everyone cool there'll be a misting tent.
