The Music Man is the uplifting, energetic, feel good musical you've been waiting for and it’s coming to the Iona Performing Arts Centre for a strictly limited season, from September 23 to October 7, 2023.

With music and lyrics by Meredith Willson, this Broadway smash hit has been entertaining audiences for decades, winning multiple Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Revival of a Musical.

The Music Man, Savoyards Musical Comedy Society

Presented by Savoyards Musical Comedy Society, this fully staged production features a beautifully costumed cast, all set against a stunning story book set.

Set in 1912, The Music Man follows fast-talking travelling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organise; this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef.

His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.

This much-loved musical is filled with unforgettable songs, including Till There Was You and 76 Trombones, as well as a barbershop quartet and a glorious, live 20 piece orchestra.
