Lord Mayor's Multicultural Awards for Business

Brisbane City Council welcomes local businesses and multicultural communities to nominate entrants for the 2023 Lord Mayor’s Multicultural Awards for Business, with entries now open until 7 July 2023.

“Multicultural businesses and business owners contribute a lot to our economy through their creativity, innovation, dedication to community and resilience in the face of challenging times,” Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said.

These awards celebrate our city's inclusivity and multiculturalism, and recognise the role that the recipients play to foster it. Award categories include the Nick Xynias Multicultural Young Business Person of the Year, Multicultural Business Person of the Year, and the Multicultural Entrepreneur of the Year.

2023 is the fourteenth iteration of the Multicultural Awards for Business, having recognised more than 30 award winners, and always attracts a strong following from Brisbane’s multicultural community and business sector.

The winners will be announced on 17 November 2023 at a celebratory dinner held at Brisbane City Hall, with tickets available for purchase from September 2023.

Last year's event was attended by 480 people to celebrate and recognise the contribution of multicultural businesses to the Brisbane economy and community. 2022 winners include Mr Johnny Shin of Solomons Group Australia (Nick Xynias Multicultural Young Business Person of the Year), Mr George Sha of Balanz (Multicultural Business Person of the Year) and Ms Nina Nguyen of Pakko (Multicultural Entrepreneur of the Year).

All proceeds from the Lord Mayor’s Multicultural Business Dinner and Awards support the Lord Mayor's Multicultural Business Scholarship Program in the following year, which provides recipients with vital training and supports them start or expand their own businesses in Brisbane.
