Grace
Judith Wright Centre
Acclaimed circus performer, Emma Serjeant, is presenting her stunning solo work, Grace, with music by Ben Ely (Regurgitator), at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts.
Described as a “provocative, dynamic and exquisite piece of circus theatre”, Grace poses the question: “How much could happen in five seconds…?” The answer in this case is that the five seconds change the life of a woman who is a popular, successful and happy person with a hidden wild side. A catastrophe occurs, and Grace finds herself having to either fall forward into the unknown or jerk back to what’s familiar.
Emma Serjeant created the work (EmmaSerjeantPerformance – ESP) along with John Britton (DUENDE), and with the music by former Regurgitator member, Ben Ely, it should be a powerful and exciting piece of circus theatre.
Serjeant’s skills have been lauded across the board, with Total Theatre describing her as “ridiculously talented”, while The West Australian said that she “builds an equation where movement equals energy equals emotion, and manipulates it expertly.” Her works push the boundaries of circus performance and movement with her bold and unique approach.
