Christmas Lights

Government House

Christmas Lights are back on at Queensland's Government House in a spectacular must see display that is open to the public from December 13-20.

The landmark historic house and gardens will be lit up in a magical light show that will enchant all ages, with the garden display a third bigger than last year as several sections are illuminated for the first time.

In a first this year, visitors will be able to go inside Government House to view the official Christmas Tree in the stately Drawing Room. Meanwhile, back again will be crowd favourite Gavel the Vice-Regal dog, who will be making appearances throughout the display.

Fernberg, the official residence of the Governor of Queensland since 1910, is over 150 years old and its popularity continues to rise, with more than 19,200 visitors over the past year, including Open Days and guided school and tour groups.

Need to know – Entrance (pedestrians only) is via the Service Gate at 168 Fernberg Rd and there is no onsite parking. Strictly no pets, food or drinks allowed. No bookings are required.
