Maleny Country Estate

Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Just 90 minutes from Brisbane and an easy 6-minute drive from the quaint township of Maleny, the beautiful cottages of Maleny Country Estate are an idyllic place to call home for a secluded getaway from Brisbane.

Driving down the majestic tree-lined lane that changes with the seasons, you immediately leave the cares of the every-day behind.

Whether you’re looking to simply relax and escape the busyness of life, or prefer to settle into your home-away-from-home to take in all the Sunshine Coast Hinterland has to offer, this family owned-and-run mountain retreat is your perfect base.

Perched along the ridge overlooking lush, rolling hills and native bushland, the mix of cabins and cottages are spread across the 185-acre property, offering privacy, serenity and captivating views to soak up.

Catering to a romantic getaway for two right through to a terrific location to bring a group of friends or family together to reconnect in nature, the accommodation range includes 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom cottages, plus 3-bedroom cabins with a loft that are well-suited to families holidaying with teenage children (2 of the double beds are upstairs on an open plan loft).

There's also the Estate House which has been superbly renovated and includes six stunning bedrooms, two full kitchens, three indoor fireplaces, plus it's own beauty room, making it popular with not only larger groups, but also with brides wanting to bring the magic of Maleny to their special day.

Honeymooners from far and wide flock to Stone Cottage for its romance and beauty, and Cottage One is much-loved for it's undercover, private, outdoor bath that is THE perfect place to chill.

Designed with self-sufficiency in mind, each cottage has a well-appointed kitchen (coffee lovers rejoice... there is even an espresso machine), and – perfect for the cooler months, a fireplace ready to curl up in front of with a good book and perhaps some delicious, local fare and a glass of wine.

Another thoughtful touch is the outdoor seating with an open fire pit that each cottage boasts, offering an added dimension on experiencing the great outdoors, take in incredible sunsets across the Blackall Ranges, and get to know the local fauna that often pop by to say hello. Keep your eyes peeled for koalas in the treetops, along with wallabies and echidna scurrying through the undergrowth.

If staying close to home is high on your agenda, the ground level of The Estate House is where you'll be able to relax by the fire when the weather is fresh, and enjoy a book from the library, play a round of billiards, or cool off in the pool that delivers amazing views at any time of day.

The history of Maleny Country Estate goes way beyond what you see today. It was the dream of previous owner, Albert Murer, a talented Swiss craftsman, to draw from his Alpine heritage and bring a touch of his European homeland to the hinterland.

The amazing St Albertus Chapel is available for intimate weddings, christenings and music recitals (the acoustics are next-level!), with several locations within the grounds of the estate custom-created to accommodate weddings and function marquees. Helicopters can even land, making for a dramatic and unforgettable entrance for the bride-to-be or groom-to-be. And, best of all, the most beautiful of back-drops for wedding photos make for the most memorable album.

Looking to get out and explore Maleny, you are spoilt for choice on interesting places to discover.

Spill Wine is a top spot for a tipple or two (with take-home available), Rosetta Books is where to head to add to your home library, Maleny Country Antiques is overflowing with treasures to uncover, and a must-visit is the David Linton Furniture and Timberworks. Plus, there are a myriad of delightful lifestyle boutiques and healthy cafes galore to check out, along with bush walks and country markets every Sunday to mix things up.

On the way from the Estate to Maleny, make sure you check out the amazing 360-degree views from Howells Knob Lookout

So, if you're wanting to experience a most magical part of South East Queensland, Maleny Country Estate should definitely be on your must-visit list. The warmth and embracing hospitality you experience from the team at this hinterland gem will have you feeling not only rejuvenated, but also a part of the extended family, looking forward to your next visit.
