Updated: Mar 10, 2026

Melbourne Tram is a stunningly refurbished vintage tram that is part of the accommodation on offer at Rosecliffe Boutique Farm Cottages, nestled within the Sunshine Coast Hinterland at Cooran.

The historic W Class Tram number 1004 was built in 1955 and ran Melbourne’s iconic Spencer St to St Kilda line until it was retired in 1992.

Bathtub in Melbourne Tram

In recent years the tram has been meticulously restored to resemble an Art Deco 1st class saloon car style, featuring inlaid art deco furniture, brocade upholstered Victorian couch and tub chairs, mahogany butlers kitchen and a high-backed claw foot bath. The toilet is located in the conductor’s front cabin, which still retains its folding drivers seat and wheel.

Bed in Melbourne Tram

Suited for couples (adults only), there's a double pillow-topped bed, while the Butlers kitchen is equipped with sink, bench top burner, mini oven and small fridge/ freezer. stainless steel pots & pans, plates, cooking utensils, crockery & cutlery.

Exterior of Melbourne Tram

Outside there's a fully fenced undercover veranda area with dining setting, casual seating and a hooded BBQ as well as a secluded outdoor garden area under a huge old fig tree with seating & a chiminea fireplace.

View from Rosecliffe Boutique Farm Cottages

Good to know - The Melbourne Tram is dog friendly (accommodates one dog only) and is securely fenced so pooches can freely roam the living spaces, however there is no fenced yard area.
