Fortitude Valley

Rydges Fortitude Valley hotel brings a hip new ‘city meets country’ style of accommodation to the up and coming Brisbane Showgrounds precinct.

Located on the cusp of Bowen Hills and Fortitude Valley the well-appointed hotel sits across the road from the Showgrounds, the Royal International Convention Centre and the Old Museum and is a short walk to the Royal Brisbane Hospital, The Tivoli and the upcoming King Street.

Paying homage to its neighbourhood, the Ekka features subtly in the hotel’s décor - think cow and sheep pillows, carpet that is patterned like rustic country floorboards, old pictures of the Ekka and country scenes on the walls and a stunning Paddock to Plate menu in its onsite restaurant.

Rooms are super comfortable with luxe bedding and designer toiletries and on the second floor there’s a heated lap pool, deck with outdoor rain shower and small glassed-in 24 hour gym.

Other amenities include The Paddock Bar with views across to the Showgrounds and the slick and funky restaurant Six Acres, which is a foodie destination unto itself that warrants a visit even if you’re not a hotel guest.

A daily buffet breakfast is served at Six Acres, with the option of Continental or Hot Breakfast. On offer are fresh and stewed fruits, yoghurts, cereals in sacks, a range of toast and sweet pastries and donuts. Hot options are fresh made omelettes, scrambled eggs, bacon, baked beans, grilled tomatoes chipolata sausages, hash browns, waffles and pancakes.

A nice touch is the Schaerer coffee machine where, with the press of a button, guests get to help themselves to as many di Mandredi espressos, caffe lattes, long blacks or cappuccinos as they like.

Need to know – Parking is available at the multi-storey carpark across the lane.
