SWOP Flagship Store
Fortitude Valley
Updated: Feb 10, 2026
SWOP, Australia’s leading curated resale destination has opened the doors to a new location in the James Street precinct in Fortitude Valley,
This marks a major milestone for the Brisbane-founded brand formerly located in West End, and now 12 years into reshaping the narrative of secondhand fashion.
With existing stores in Melbourne and Sydney and an expansive online presence, the brand has pioneered a new standard of community-led, design-driven circular fashion. SWOP offers a carefully curated collection of high-quality secondhand luxury, vintage, and designer pieces. Unlike consignment models or marketplaces, SWOP buys directly from its community, enabling an intentional, highly-edited approach to curation and stringent authentication process.
The James Street space – designed by William McRoberts and Studio Gardner (led by Joseph Gardner, Style Editor at Vogue Living) – was created to reflect SWOP’s unique balance of sustainability and design clout.
The fit-out features standout Australian design pieces from Olivia Bossy, James Lemon, Tanika Jellis and Sarah I’Anson, and iconic furniture elements sourced from Europe’s premiere design houses, such as a 4 piece Original Terazza Sofa by Ubald Klug. Together, these pieces guide customers through the store’s different zones, from elevated designer racks to everyday staples, mirroring the curated diversity of the fashion that SWOP buys and sells.
Natural light floods the high-ceilinged, warehouse-style interior, illuminating a space purpose-built for discovery. Every fixture and furniture element has been placed with intention, echoing the brand’s belief that circular fashion can – and should – feel inspiring and considered.
SWOP offers an extensive, ever-changing selection of secondhand treasures sourced directly from customers, who are invited to sell or trade their items, receiving 50% of the resale value in store credit or 30% in cash for pieces they sell (40% cash is paid for items above $249).
Need to know - Every year, the global fashion industry emits the same amount of greenhouse gases as France, Germany, and the UK combined, and Australians rank as the top consumers of fashion globally, buying more new clothes per capita than any other country. By providing an antidote to disposable consumption, SWOP is helping to shift this reality.
