Greca

Howard Smith Wharves

Greca is a modern Greek taverna that brings the very best of Greek cuisine to Brisbane's Howard Smith Wharves, where it occupies an historic shed with stunning city views, and a dining terrace with retractable roof.

Greca Brisbane

Honouring Greek tradition, everything at Greca is designed to share, with a menu that offers a delectable range of classic dishes prepared with the freshest of locally sourced produce and given a creative contemporary twist.

The ambience at Greca, is casual yet lively, with waiters bustling around the indoor and outdoor tables and an upstairs dining area available for groups and functions.

On the menu you’ll find starters like taramasalata or split pea dip with parsley and capers to enjoy with house-baked bread, perfect to enjoy with a Greek beer or retsina. Small plates include the must-try raw fish with citrus and capers (like a Greek ceviche), dolmades, grilled octopus with almond and chilli, saganaki cheese with honey and oregano or spanakopita (wild weed and cheese pie).

Meat and fish dishes are mostly from the char grill, with choices such as grilled king prawns with herb dressing, grilled calamari with speck, chilli and its own sauce or grilled pork chop with pistachio, garlic and parsley. Highly recommended too are the charcoal chicken with lemon pepper and artichoke or the signature baked lamb shoulder with potatoes.

In addition there’s a range of salads and vegetables including the traditional village salad, marinated eggplant and farro salad or okra, tomato, mint and vinegar. And for sweets, diners can choose from the likes of chocolate metaxa pudding with cream and hazelnuts, katoumari (smashed filo with walnuts and semolina cream) or something light and refreshing such as watermelon, ouzo and mint.

Can’t decide what to order? Then go the Full Greek – a set menu (65pp*) that includes olives, taramasalata, bread basket, village salad, saganaki cheese, honey and oregano, baked lamb shoulder and potatoes and Katoumari for dessert.

Greca Brisbane

For drinks there’s an impressive 150 bottle wine list (including many from Greece) as well as wines on tap (glass or carafe), Greek beers, spirits and cocktails by the glass or jug and ‘taverna twists’.

Nice to know – Owner Jonathan Barthelmess, who was born on the Gold Coast, is also behind renowned Sydney restaurants, The Apollo and Cho Cho San.

Need to know - You'll find Greca on the city side of Howard Smith Wharves, adjacent to Mr Percival's bar.
