Integrity 20: Age Of Insecurities

Griffith University

Shami Chakrabarti (UK), Sarah Chayes (US), Rafael Marques de Morais (Angola), Raimond Gaita, Robert Manne, and Peter Greste are part of an esteemed line up of twenty international and Australian speakers at Griffith University’s 2016 Integrity 20 conference from October 25 -26.

The Integrity 20 ‘age of insecurities’ program will bring together philosophers, ethicists, activists, journalists, dissidents, artists and academics to explore some of the greatest global challenges in a series of bold conversations, keynote speeches, performances and roundtable discussions.

Critical issues such as the global refugee crisis, killer robots, free speech, politics and power and terrorism will be in the spotlight.

Integrity 20 Chair and Pro Vice Chancellor for Griffith University’s Arts Education and Law Group, Professor Paul Mazerolle, said Integrity 20, formerly known as the Global Integrity Summit, was not only a significant event for Queensland but also for the nation.

2016 Integrity 20 Conference

“We have had an amazing calibre of speakers at our two previous events and we are extremely excited to be able to announce this year’s speakers, who all have significant credibility and expertise,” said Prof Mazerolle.

“Underpinned by the overarching theme of global uncertainty and insecurities, the idea behind Integrity 20 is to foster public debate and discussion on issues that are foundational and addressing pressing issues for our society. There has never been a more critical time to have these discussions,” he said.

“The program examines a range of complex interconnected global challenges, that are potentially transformative in their impact and which affect everyone on the planet and their futures. It’s through these connections and conversations we can create a meaningful platform for change ensuring ethics and integrity remain at the heart as we seek tangible solutions to effect positive change for the future,” Professor Mazerolle said.

Now in its third year, the event is fast becoming recognised as a valuable platform for public engagement.

“Integrity 20 positions Australia and its key leading thinkers on the global stage and with an opportunity to showcase the amazing knowledge and expertise we have with those from other nations.”
