Old Petrie Town Markets

Old Petrie Town Markets have an historical village as a backdrop, making it an extremely pleasant place to spend a Sunday.
The stalls have a folksy flavour with lots of handcrafts and old-fashioned wares as well as a smattering of fresh fruit and vegetables and wandering minstrels while the spread out nature of the pedestrian-only township makes for a relaxed vibe.
Interspersed with the markets are the historical shops such as a woodfired bakery and old-fashioned lolly shop, a central barn containing a bunch of hawkers’ stalls peddling everything from German sausages to damper, nasi goreng, Thai curry puffs, Belgian waffles and Dutch pancakes.
When "stalled-out", take to the surrounding green hills where distant potters and blacksmiths practise their crafts in corrugated iron sheds or head to The Heritage Hotel for a tasty breakfast or lunch on the verandah.
Also, history buffs can visit the adjacent slick little Pine Rivers Shire Museum for an insight into the early settler's ways, the remnants of the local World War II army camp or turn of the century school discipline. There is also an interactive room where children can fiddle with physics – acceleration, velocity, weights and more.
Good to know - The vehicle entrance is off Dayboro Road, and there is plenty of free parking.
