The Hangi Pit
Everton Hills
THIS BUSINESS IS NOW CLOSED.
The Hangi Pit in Everton Hills is the go-to for Brisbane Kiwis who are craving an authentic hangi and fried bread or fish and chips.
Hangi, which means "earth oven", is a traditional New Zealand Maori cooking method usually involving pork, chicken, kumara, potato, pumpkin, cabbage and stuffing.
The Hangi Pit also specialises in New Zealand-caught seafood such as Pacific oysters, Kina and marinated HP mussels. Some other traditional menu items are seafood and fried bread, creamed mussels and fried bread, creamed paua and fried bread, fritters, toasties, burgers and kiwi hotdogs.
The drink selection includes milkshakes, and a range of soft drinks in the fridge. For the sweet tooths, there are lolly cakes, marshmellow slices and ginger crunches as well as assorted lollies.
Need to know - For those wishing to eat in, they have several tables indoors, as well as an efficient take away service.
Nice to know - The Hangi Pit also has outlets in Springwood and Oxenford.
