Sw1 Tini Bar & Kitchen
South Brisbane
SW Tini Bar & Kitchen has permanently closed.
SW1 Tini Bar & Kitchen is a unique little gem of a New York style cocktail and wine bar hidden in a pedestrian laneway of South Brisbane.
The wraparound centrepiece bar is surrounded by oil paintings and a vine-covered wall and to one side, a faux log fireplace, while seating inside is at leather padded booths with their own lamps or a little drinking nook through a door to one side.
Meanwhile the covered laneway outside has an eclectic mix of seating: blue velvet armchairs, quirky alphabet industrial style stools and Parisian style cafe chairs and tables.
Owner Emma is a nutritionist and the must try Tini signature martinis are made with fresh herbs picked from her own garden, such as the Blueberry and Basil Sour (aka the BAZ) – garden fresh basil, fresh blueberries, gin and lime juice.
Also on this list are Mango and Coconut Peach Daiquiri (garnished with blueberry puree and dessicated coconut), Lavendar Fizz – fresh lavender elderflower, raspberries and gin (a spin on the classic Sloe Gin Fizz) and the Peanut Butter Martini.
A raft of classic cocktails are available either as original (Whisky Sour, Sidecar, Mai Tai or Cosmopolitan) or with the Tini twist – think Sherbet Margarita and Raspberry and Chocolate, Passionfruit or Lychee Caprioska.
As well as cocktails, SW1 Tini Bar has an extensive wine list, including Bollinger champagne, spirits and a decent range of imported (including Corona, Asahi and Peroni), craft, bottled and draught (Cricketer’s Arms and Kingfisher) beers and bottled ciders.
SW1 Tini is more than a bar, with an onsite kitchen offering tapas and share dishes inspired by the owner’s world travels – Trio of Dips or Cheeses, Southern Chicken Strips, Salt and Pepper Squid, Tuscan Noodie Balls, Smoked Salmon Penne, Moroccan Lamb Balls, Sliders (American Swiss or Aussie), Peking Duck Spring Rolls, Thai Chicken Satay, Char Grilled Baby Octopus, Fish and Chips, Nachos and Black Angus Sirloin.
And for something sweet there’s also Affogato, Portuguese Tarts or Strawberries or Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Bean Ice-cream.
Need to know – Sw1 Tini can be found tucked in behind IGA on Melbourne St – look for the fairy lights and Cricketer’s Arms signs.
Nice to know - This is a rare Brisbane bar where all ages can feel right at home. It is also available throughout the week for functions.
