Jamie's Italian

Brisbane CBD

Updated: Dec 29, 2020

JAMIE'S ITALIAN BRISBANE RESTAURANT HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Jamie's Italian Brisbane,  the busy eatery in the Rowes building, is regularly packed to the rafters with everyone from workers winding down after a long day to families with young children, all drawn to that signature Jamie Oliver quality to the food.

One of the summer offerings is the Salmon Salad, which makes a light and delicious starter or side order - flaked, hot-smoked salmon with heritage beets, radish, fennel and creamy ricotta, topped with seeded crackerbread, fresh horseradish and green goddess dressing. The Ora King Salmon comes from New Zealand's Marlboro Sound, and in line with Jamie Oliver's standards, is fished sustainably.

Several dishes come in small or large sizes so buying a few to share is a great way to go. The Fritto Misto seems made for sharing, its small pieces of flash-fried sustainable seafood and shellfish perfect to pick at. It's served with chunky Italian tartare sauce and lemon.

If you're a meat lover, you can't go past the Aged Grain-fed Hanger Steak - a.k.a. the 'butcher's cut', so named because butchers used to take the tender cut home for their own families. The steak is grilled with Portobello mushrooms, gremolata, balsamic onions and baby watercress, with an optional serving of skinny fries to top off the 'mmmm' factor.

All the usual Jamie's Italian drawcards are still there, from the award-winning Kids' Menu with winners like Chicken Lollipops to the mouth-watering Dessert offerings. Try to resist the three scoops of Serendipity ice-cream with two toppings from smashed honeycomb, crushed nuts and seeds, seasonal fruits or butterscotch sauce. For a slightly more grown-up treat, there's the Epic Brownie served warm with amaretto ice-cream and caramelised amaretti popcorn.

The wine list has some winners on it - try Jamie's Favourite Cantine 'Pra' Otto Soave Classico, a very drinkable drop from the northern region of Veneto packed with apple, pear and aromatic herbs. If you prefer a red there's Jamie's Favourite Benevelli Piero Langhe Rosso Nebbiolo - a rich wine with juicy fruit, musk, leather, aniseed and chalky tannins from the Piedmont region of Italy.

With all of this and more on offer, Jamie's Italian is sure to keep luring in happy customers in their droves for a long time to come.
