Updated: Feb 20, 2026

Sunshine is a unique Mediterranean eatery in Fortitude Valley, whose James Street dining terrace is shaded by bright yellow umbrellas.

The creation of Simon Gloftis, who also owns renowned fine dining restaurant SK Steak & Oyster in Ada Lane, tucked away underneath the Calile Hotel on the other side of James Street, Sunshine brings a casual way of dining to the upmarket precinct.

Patrons can either take home some scrumptious food or enjoy it under the umbrellas outside. Whether you are taking away or dining in, food is served via the bain maries inside - onto a china plate for in-house diners or brown eco containers for takeway.

All patrons line up starting just inside the door and and are served by staff who can explain the origins and ingredients of each dish available. Once plates or containers are filled, the price is calculated by weight. At check-out, their are fresh daily juices or wines available to purchase to enjoy with your meal outside.
