Esk

Updated: Jul 06, 2021

Esk, a tiny township just an hour and half’s easy weekend drive from Brisbane, is home to Esk Trading Post, an indoor and outdoor source of country and antique treasures and procurements.

Here, you will find everything from furniture to thimbles, with heaps of unexpected treasures and finds in between.

The entrance corridor guides you past beautiful, antique timber hutches, shelves and bookcases, all with their own vintage pieces on display, such as leather-bound books, porcelain tea pots and kerosene lamps.

A room off to the right includes an eclectic mix of more modern items, such as retro clothing, brass ornaments, small timber statues, candelabras, indoor lights and lamps, rugs and nic nacs in general.

Cast iron pots, green glass marine balls, bird cages, and different coloured vintage glass items fill the shelves – 1950's amber glass, green depression glass and ruby glass, crystal and cut glass. The list is endless!

If you’re thinking about renovating, keep an eye out for the brass and metal hat hooks, fire hearth grates and decorative planter boxes, along with boho chic ornaments and statement pieces.

Petrol heads and motoring enthusiasts will be fuelled with anticipation of a visit, and it’s a common weekend sight to see motorbikes lined-up out front, with Esk being a popular destination for a cruisey bike ride and a spot of vintage shopping.

Retro engine oil signs make a great addition to any man cave, and the aged wagon wheels are just the thing as a statement piece for a country garden look.

Need to know – The range is ever-changing so make sure you ask the staff if there’s something in particular that you’re after or call ahead before your visit.
