Step back in time and experience Australia’s most celebrated medieval event as the Abbey Medieval Festival returns to mark its 35th year in 2026, from July 10-12.

Taking place at Abbeystowe, Caboolture, the Festival promises an extraordinary weekend where history comes alive through spectacular reenactment, immersive experiences and world-class entertainment.

Across three days, the Abbey Medieval Festival transforms the grounds of the Abbey Museum into a vibrant medieval world. Visitors can witness the adrenaline-charged Moreton Bay Medieval Joust Championship, marvel at majestic Birds of Prey demonstrations, and explore sprawling living history encampments where reenactors recreate daily life from the Middle Ages.

The program features thrilling combat displays, traditional music and dance, medieval animal displays and horsemanship, and a bustling marketplace filled with handcrafted wares and delicious food inspired by centuries past.

Festivities begin on Friday July 10th with the much-loved Friday Family Fun Day, a specially-curated day designed to provide a more relaxed and inclusive festival experience.

With smaller crowds, adjusted entertainment and accessibility supports, Friday is ideal for families, school groups and visitors who prefer a sensory-friendly environment. Guests can also take part in the popular pilgrimage treasure hunt, travelling across the festival grounds to uncover clues and unlock a special reward exclusive to Friday visitors.

Now in its 35th year, the Abbey Medieval Festival continues to draw tens of thousands of visitors from across Australia and beyond, celebrating living history through immersive storytelling, spectacular performances and hands-on experiences for all ages.
