Santorini Restaurant Grill Bar

Newstead

Updated: Mar 17, 2026

Santorini Restaurant Grill Bar is an authentic slice of Greece, found tucked away in a converted warehouse in a side street of Newstead.

The space has been transformed into a stunning vision of Santorini, the famed Greek island, with white-washed walls and striking murals, a backlit bar and white linen-topped tables.

Seating is on the covered terrace or the charming high-ceilinged interior, which features urns and jars in lit-up alcoves and a curved blue ceiling like the buildings on the island.

The perfect mix of rustic and minimalist chic, Santorini is a place that welcomes families, who can feel right at home here, as well as foodies, couples, groups of friends and anyone else who is a fan of traditional Greek food.

The extensive menu is the real deal, with divine Greek dishes some of the best to be found in Brisbane. Orektika (starters) include eggplant or zucchini chips with tzatziki, Dolmadakia, cheese stuffed mushrooms, stuffed red peppers florinis and the must-try chef's signature feta saganaki.

Mains include Mousaka, Stifado (beef stew), Youvetsi (lamb with orzo rice), Gemista minced meat (stuffed peppers), Smyrnaika 1912 (meatballs baked & fried) or Prosaselino (celery with braised pork soup), Stuffed Kalamari with feta and tomato, and Sardines Pantremenes (sardine fillets).

Other dishes include Souvaki (pork or chicken) served with Greek salad and chips, Paidakia (lamb cutlets) or Bifteki (Greek meatballs, while Chef's Specials include Kleftiko 1821 (6-hour cooked lamb), Garidomakaronada (prawn pasta) or Kritharoto thalasinon (orzo rice with seafood).

And for dessert, choices include Baklava, Ravani, Galaktobouriko, Rizogalo and Sokolatopita. Meanwhile the wine list, which features a majority of Greek wines, is outstanding, thanks to one of the owners, George, who has been a wine merchant for many years and is happy to recommend wines to go with dishes.

For beer drinkers, there's three on tap, including a Greek Santorini beer, as well as a couple of local beers. As for spirits, the list includes ouzo, moussaka and metaxa.

Santorini also has a range of Greek cocktails including Retsina Spritz (Tanqueray gin, retsina wine, elderflower and thyme); Santorini Sunset (Tanqueray gin, ouzo, strawberry grapefruit & Lime); Mastiha Colada (mastiha, lime, pineapple and coconut) and Olympus Old-Fashioned (metaxa 5, mountain tea, hazelnut and walnut bitters).

Good to know - Adjacent to the restaurant is a cafe/wine bar that opens in the morning for a light Greek breakfast and in the evenings for drinks and Greek bar snacks from the grill.

Need to know - There is some on-street parking in the streets nearby, which is free after-hours.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
