Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is a not-to-be-missed event for all ages. With so much to see, do and experience over 10 days and nights, here are 5 fantastic child-friendly festival highlights: 

Laurel Bank Park 

Head to Laurel Bank Park, one of Toowoomba’s premier parks, for a family day out during the Carnival. This green oasis in the heart of the city, features manicured gardens, mature trees, pretty picnic areas with barbecues, and a children's playground. Throughout September, the parkland will come to life with animal topiaries, Thomas the Tank Engine hedge seats, delightful floral displays, and more. 

Queens Park Botanic Gardens

A must-see destination during the Carnival is Queens Park Botanic Gardens. Spread across 25 hectares, Queens Park is something to behold, with bright flower beds, large canopies of stately trees and expansive green lawns, plus 2 playgrounds to keep the kids amused. Children will be delighted to take a ride on the ferris wheel, offering a bird's eye view over the Botanic Gardens, visit the Night Garden featuring enchanting light installations and illuminations, and witness local chalk artists create masterpieces in the park as part of the new Artist in Residence program.

Grand Central Floral Parade

The iconic Grand Central Floral Parade, always a family favourite, has been reimagined for 2020. This year the Grand Central Floral Parade will be delivered as a static display throughout the Grand Central Shopping Centre. Bloomin' beautiful floral floats, designed and decorated by local businesses and community groups, will be on display at the shopping centre across the Queensland school holidays.

Rowes Carnival of Light Shows

Bring the whole family to watch the entire front of the Rowes building come alive with spectacular animations to celebrate a Symphony of Spring. You’ll see the magical, miniature world of garden gnomes with flowers the size of buildings, giant bees, butterflies and lady birds. Watch crepe myrtle trees dance to the music while thousands of tiny flowers sprout and bloom, and a giant oak tree grows and delivers dancing gnomes to the petal party. 

Petals & Pups 

Dogs have played an historic part in the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers since 1950 when a Pomeranian named “Puppy” lead the Toowoomba Thistle Pipe Band in the very first Carnival parade. This year, the Carnival has introduced a pooch-friendly program so four-legged family members can stop and smell the roses too. The pawsome program features over 20 dog-friendly activities and 27 off-leash parks, as well as dog-friendly cafes, restaurants and accommodation.
