Talking Ideas: Tara June Winch

State Library of Queensland

Join award-winning author Tara June Winch in conversation with Melissa Lucashenko as they discuss Tara's much-anticipated new novel, The Yield, a follow up to her critically-acclaimed debut novel, Swallow the Air.

The latest event in State Library of Queensland's thought-provoking Talking Ideas program, the evening offers a rare chance for fans of Tara June Winch to see the Wiradjuri author, who is based in France.

Based on historical fact and centuries of cultural knowledge, The Yield spans 200 years of Wiradjuri history and has several narrative strands that gently circle the horror of Australia’s colonial past. Published within the UNESCO International Year of Indigenous Language, Tara has weaved Wiradjuri dictionary through the narrative.

The Yield Tara June Winch

The Yield is Tara’s third book, her debut novel was the award-winning Swallow the Air and her second book, a story collection was After the Carnage, which was shortlisted for the 2017 Queensland Literary Award for a collection.

Nice to know - The Library Shop will have all three of Tara’s books available for purchase at the event, and you are invited to meet her post-event to have your book signed.

Need to know - Make a night of it and come early to enjoy hot snacks, live music, cold beer and wine at the Library Café Bar before the show.
