Historical Sites of Logan

The City of Logan is one of the fastest growing cities in Queensland, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to forget its past anytime soon. In fact, Logan is home to many great – and diverse – sites where members of the public can learn more about the region’s rich heritage.

From museums to former factories and even a rum distillery, here are some of Logan’s most fascinating historical sites.

Comprising 20 fantastic buildings, this historical village allows visitors to literally step into a bygone era. Highlights include an 1800s-era school, a post office and general store
This Kingston relic provides a fascinating glimpse into how one of the region’s pioneering families – the Mayes’ – lived way back in the late 1800s and early 1900s
Hundreds of years’ worth of local history is housed in this little museum, including centuries-old household items and extensive war collections
Perched on the banks of the Albert River at Eagleby, Australia’s oldest rum distillery combines fascinating history with distillery tours and tastings
While not much has changed on the outside of this iconic building since 1932, the former factory’s interior and grounds are undergoing a $12 million makeover, due for completion in early 2020
Twenty fascinating sites feature along this self-guided trail, including the illuminated Forest of Memories art installation plus Logan Village Museum and Beenleigh Historical Village
Following the Mt Lindesay Highway, highlights of this trail include Gallipoli’s Mirage commemorative artwork, Tully Memorial Park, and remnants of the old Beaudesert rail line and Veresdale station
This trail is packed with historical sites, including two war memorials at Springwood Park (including one for Indigenous Light Horsemen), plus several historic cemeteries of great local significance
Along this trail you’ll come across Mayes Cottage, the Woodridge Station Masters’ Cottage (built in 1886), plus the Woodridge Progress Association Hall, used as a provisional school from 1924-1932
