Moonesque

La51 Art Gallery Paddington

LA51 Art Gallery turns back the clock to the jazz and flapper age with Moonesque, a whimsical exhibition of classical portraits inspired by the 1920s and 30s art deco movement, and The Seasons of the Feminine, inspired by art nouveau artist Mucha.

Both are the works of Brisbane artist Ros Baynes, who, in her own words has looked at the world through a view finder since the tender age of 12, and will be on display at the glam opening night soiree and throughout the following week.

This expo ticks the boxes with art, not just for art’s sake but for a charitable cause: one of the pictures will be framed and auctioned off to a good recovery art therapy cause at the Mater Foundation Art Therapy Dept. But art is not the only drawcard at the opening.

Delicious food will be provided by Tanya Krikke of Indie Treats& vegetarians will delight in the Wintery Vegetarian Moonesque menu, which includes warmed skewers, tarts and galette & filo baskets with mushroom pate. (Dairy and gluten free needs will also be well catered for).

To drink there’ll be red or sparkling wine, tea and a mystery arrival drink.

Can’t make the opening? There’s plenty of time to catch Moonesque at this gorgeous white Paddington cottage throughout the week.

Nice to know: Ros also runs a unique photography business for families and adults looking for a fresh and unique approach for their portraits.
