The Spanish Film Festival 2014 brings 30 exceptional contemporary Spanish films and one of Spain’s finest young actors as a guest star to Brisbane’s Palace Cinemas.

Films are a mix of home-grown from Spain, Latin America and international co-productions and across genres from comedy, thriller, crime, drama and romance to family-friendly*.

Highlights of this year’s festival, which is showing in both the Palace Barracks and Centro, include:

Opening Night Fiesta - The festival opens with Lonia Cava bubbles and the Qld premiere of Living is Easy with Eyes Closed, the quirky John Lennon-road-trip-themed film with an after party of Estrella beer, Torres wines, tapas and live entertainment at Palace Barracks. May 1 6.30 $45-$50

Closing Night -  Catch the festival’s close at both Palace cinemas with Alex de la Iglesia’s wildly entertaining Witching and Bitching, preceded by beer, wine and tapas. May 14 $26-$32

A Glass Full of Tricks to Fool a Thief – At the Palace Centro the film To Fool a Thief about the art of robbery is preceded by Torres wines, Argentinian flavours and live entertainment. May 7 5.45 $24-$28

Just Say ‘Si’ to Cava, Cake and Three Many Weddings – A special screening of Three Many Weddings is accompanied by Lonia Cava bubbles, cake and live entertainment. Palace barracks May 10 1pm $24-$28

Q & A with Alex Gonzalez – Join the leading actor from one of the festival’s hottest films, Scorpion in Love, in which he plays boxer and reformed neo-Nazi Julian alongside Javier Gardem, for a Q&A session after the screening of his film. Palace Barracks May 5 6.30pm
