Form7even

Stafford Heights

FORM7EVEN HAS CLOSED IN 2015 AND BEEN REPLACED BY SOUL FOOD RESTAURANT THE RUSTY BURROW.

Form7even is a foodie’s suburban dream – a cosy ambient café bar serving great value chef-prepared food within a quiet Stafford Heights shopping strip.

In a previous life Form7even was popular local haunt Café Urbano, but Form7even has expanded into the shop next door and taken everything to a whole new level, with a menu that is better than you’ll find in many inner city venues, dinner on weekends and a bar serving an affordable selection of beer, wine, cider, spirits and house cocktails.

The breakfast menu is extensive, with a mix of traditional and innovative dishes that make it a great northside breakfast destination: alongside the Avo Smash and Eggs Benedict in 4 different forms can be found Pizza for Breaky, Smashed Peas and Zucchini on sour dough, Maleny Buttermilk Pancakes and the Un-Usual Faloumi – a brekkie wrap with falafel, grilled haloumi, lettuce, tomato and low-fat yoghurt with garlic sauce. Also popular with punters is the delicious From Mother Earth – Swiss brown mushrooms, baby spinach and haloumi with house-made beetroot and chilli relish.

Come lunch-time the signature dish at Form7even is the Hoagie – a long roll sub sandwich thought to hail from Philadelphia – which comes with a deep-fry basket of French fries and aioli on the side and with fillings like Grass-fed Beef Loaf, cocktail shrimp or the highly recommended Hot Chook – shredded peri peri chicken, sun-dried tomato, avo, red onion, lettuce and aioli (these are very generous for one and depending on appetite, suited for 2 to share).

For something more substantial other dishes, which are great value at around $20, include slow braised beef cheeks, baby spinach and rissoni salad and fresh fish of the day.

Form7even is open Thursday to Saturday evenings for a casual sophisticated dinner: starters include sticky beef ribs and cheese aioli or the special share platter of grilled ciabatta, cold meats, pumpkin croquettes and calamari fritte  while well-priced mains range from garlic and prawn prosciutto pizza to the delectable Twice cooked Pork Belly with white truffle and parsnip puree and baby beets.

There’s a decent and affordable range of beer and wine from the bar, including a French house red or white by the bottle or glass and cocktail-wise, espresso martini or the house Form7even Fizz.

Otherwise coffee is from local roastery Elixir and there’s a great range of fruit or vegetable juices, smoothies, shakes or fizzy drinks.

Note: *Dining is a mix of indoor-al fresco with a sizable terrace out front. Menu dishes are subject to change regularly, along with daily specials.

Need to know: Form7even is a child-friendly café with high chairs available and a small but excellent kids menu (up to age 12) with dishes like pancakes and white chocolate pancake or fruit salad and yoghurt for breakfast, chicken breast, steak or fish with fries and salad for lunch or chicken nuggets, pizza or steak for dinner. there’s also a special kids plate share option where 2 children can share a selection from the menu for $21.50 and extra children can share for $9/head.

Nice to know: There’s plenty of off-street parking out back as well as on-street out front.
