Mitoki

Kangaroo Point

MITOKI JAPANESE RESTAURANT HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Mitoki is an absolute gem of a rustic Japanese tapas bar eatery that can be found tucked alongside the Story Bridge in Kangaroo Point and whose house specialty is modern Japanese tapas.

Dining is on a fairy and paper lantern lit open sided terrace (with roll down blinds for protection from the elements) at black clothed tables adorned with miniature flower pots and ordering is done electronically via i-pad menus.

The tapas menu is an eclectic and extensive mix of Japanese meets Western delicacies: think salmon cream croquettes, sweet chilli chicken karaage, natto gyoza, teriyaki chiecken caesar salad, salmon or beef carpaccio and and the deliciousness continues to the rest of the menu, which includes sushi, sashimi, rice and noodle dishes, mains of teriyaki or tempura and good value lunch time bento boxes.

Chef specials, some with a Western twist, are also worth a look and these include fresh ginger sashimi, beef carpaccio, or sake sake bucket with grilled tuna Caesar salad.

Mitoki is fully licenced (with BYO wine allowed) with a range of sake and shochu, Japanese and Oz beers, wine and Japanese cocktails such as Umeshi Martini (made on Japanese plum wine).

Desserts are also a mix of east and west from the traditional Mitoki green tea mousse basket or black sesame ice-cream to parfaits, tiramisu and brownies.

Need to know: come for lunch and take advantage of the great lunchtime specials such as bento boxes, tapas lunch sets, rice bowls and udon noodle sets all for $20 or under.
