Children's Week

2017

Children’s Week, which runs from Saturday 21 October- Sunday 29 October 2017, is a time to recognize the talents, skills and abilities of children with a range of events and activities organised in various locations at national, state and local level.

The week-long celebration centres around Universal Children’s Day, Wednesday 25 October, a day created by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954 to promote friendship and understanding among children around the world.

The aims of Children’s Week are to heighten community awareness of the needs of children, promote knowledge of services available to children and their families, stimulate education in quality child care and child rearing, to increase communication between children and adults and provide opportunities for children and adults to share enjoyable experiences.
