Don Gino

Don Gino is a charming slice of Sicily in West End - a welcoming trattoria and wine bar serving traditional Italian comfort food, generous hospitality and a carefully curated selection of Italian wines.

Located in the ambient former Bar Hugo site on Hardgrave Road, Don Gino is inspired by the cosy trattorias found in small Sicilian villages. Warm timber interiors and a relaxed neighbourhood make it the perfect spot for a quick pasta and vino or leisurely feast.

The menu showcases the rich flavours of Southern Italy, with recipes rooted in tradition and quality imported Italian ingredients. Kick things off with Sicilian favourites including crispy panelle (chickpea fritters), golden arancini filled with bolognese and mushroom or parmesan cream, fried calamari and generous antipasto boards laden with focaccia, cured meats, cheeses, burrata and olives.

From there, dive into comforting classics including lasagna al forno, Southern Italian meatballs simmered in rich sugo and pillowy gnocchi with tomato sauce.

Pasta lovers can choose from seafood marinara, slow-cooked tagliatelle ragu, spinach and ricotta raviolo or the signature Don Gino pasta with sausage, eggplant and salted ricotta, while traditional pizzas and slow-braised beef cheeks and lamb shanks round out the menu.
