Updated: Jun 29, 2026
The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra returns to Brisbane this August with Vivaldi's Legacy, an intimate and captivating program led by acclaimed Paris-based violinist Augusta McKay Lodge in her Australian debut.
Taking place at the Concert Hall, QPAC on Tuesday 25 August 2026, Vivaldi's Legacy shines a light on Anna Maria della Pietà, the orphaned Venetian violin virtuoso who became Antonio Vivaldi's greatest muse and collaborator. Through a program of dazzling concertos and evocative chamber works, audiences will discover the remarkable musician who inspired some of Vivaldi's most innovative and technically demanding compositions.
Led by Guest Director Augusta McKay Lodge, one of the leading specialists in historical performance practice today, the program features Vivaldi's Concerto for Violin in E major 'per Anna Maria' and Concerto for Violin and Organ in C major, alongside works by Pisendel and Tartini that capture the rich musical culture of 18th-century Venice.
Performed on the Brandenburg's renowned collection of period instruments, Vivaldi's Legacy promises an evening of beauty, virtuosity and discovery, bringing to life the music and story of one of Baroque music's most fascinating yet overlooked figures.
