Intermission
West End
Updated: Jun 15, 2026
Located right in front of The West End Electric in Brisbane’s bohemian West End, Intermission is an intimate glamorous old world bar with a decadent drinks list and a Spanish and French inspired food menu.
With a secret door joining the venue to The West End Electric theatre, the bar has a special connection to performance - where you can rub shoulders with international performing artists, chat to your neighbours about the latest musicals and gigs in town or throw caution to the wind and catch a show on a whim.
Cocktails like the Choc Top Martini, Popcorn Sour and Malt-Pleaser celebrate the showtime theme, while bites like burrata, peach and prosciutto loaded crisps, Yarra Valley caviar with potato pavé and sliced to order charcuterie represent a food menu that’s both elevated and relaxed.
The venue’s striking gold floor is crafted from hundreds of thousands of hand-thrown gold flakes - offset by eclectic vintage furnishings, theatre posters and festoon bulbs that pay homage to London’s West End theatre district. There is a heavy influence from the bistros of Paris with the dark wood panelling and wicker furniture.
The live plants, blue walls, outdoor balcony seating and soft white chiffon drapes are a nod to Brisbane’s warm balmy nights.
Baz Luhrmann has already partied at the bar before its official opening, so it’s safe to say the vibe is on track!
Good to know -Intermission has its official opening weekend from June 19-21. Brisbane revellers can get around DJs from 4pm-late, Encore Hour from 9pm with a $14 menu, and a Sunday Service from 12pm–2pm, serving Bloody Marys, spritzes and traditional empanadas. Guests who pre-book an opening weekend table will also receive complimentary unlimited fries or focaccia.
