La Bodega Taqueria

La Bodega Taqueria is a bright and breezy terracotta-hued Mexican restaurant located in a tiny precinct of eateries on a busy corner of Lytton Road in East Brisbane.

Don't be deceived by the no-frills minimalist appearance, because while the vibe is laidback and casual, the food is freshly made from scratch and top notch.

Starters include chargrilled street corn with queso, Bodega house crema and smoked spice, chicken wings in spicy chipotle sauce, salted and roasted Padron peppers or spiced bean dip (crushed black beans, chipotle & coriander) served with fried tortilla chips.

Tacos are a house specialty and include Pork Al Pastor (adobe pork, grilled pineapple slaw); Steak Asada (grilled rum steak with Mexican chimichurri, corn salsa, crumbled queso, radish); Barramundi (tecate battered barramundi, Mexican tartare, pico de gallo, slaw & radish).

Large plates (with a choice of pork, chicken or jackfruit) include Burrito (Mexican red rice, beans, pico de gallo & guacamole - wrapped or with salad in a bowl); Enchilada (baked layered tortillas, beans, Bodega house cream & queso); or Nachos (fried tortilla chips topped with tres queso, Bodega house crema, pico de gallo, guacamole & salsa roja).

There's also a choice of corn & cucumber or house salads, and to finish, Churros, Dessert Tostada or Horchata Ice Cream.
