Macbeth

This razor-sharp new adaptation of Macbeth charts the course of a rising war hero who becomes the media’s latest obsession and, pushed by a partner as polished as she is dangerous, turns the 24-hour news cycle into his personal battleground, playing at QPAC from June 6th to 21st.

This is Macbeth, as written by Shakespeare, reimagined and reborn into a ruthless world of rolling news, political theatre and weaponised ambition at scale by the creative team behind 1984, A Christmas Carol, Frankenstein and Jane Eyre, for our age of clickbait and catastrophe.

This will be a dark, seductive, ratings-driven descent where perception is everything, loyalty is currency, and one couple’s hunger for the top spot threatens to bring their whole empire crashing down.

Good to know – Recommended for ages 14+. This production contains mature adult themes including violence, depictions of torture, murder, self-harm and suicide. It also contains sudden loud noises, strobe lighting, haze and smoke.
