One of the most unlikely stars in classical music, pianist and composer Lucas Debargue will launch his Australian debut tour in Brisbane with all-French programme L’Enigme Française at Brisbane City Hall on 28 May.

With the looks of a GQ model and the instincts of a jazz improviser, Lucas first exploded onto the international stage at the 2015 Tchaikovsky Competition, having started his journey working supermarket shifts and culminating in sold-out Carnegie Hall.

Presented by Live at Yours, this is not a standard piano recital but an immersive concert experience: mood lighting in the stunning Brisbane City Hall, no interval, and the freedom to bring a drink inside and settle into the music in a more relaxed, atmospheric way.

For Brisbane audiences, this is a chance to encounter a true original in a format that feels elegant, relaxed and alive — and to hear French music through the hands of an artist who refuses the conventional mould.
