TAKASHIYA HAS CLOSED

TakishiYa is a splendid and exclusive Japanese omakase, whiskey and sake bar tucked away under the Emporium Hotel in South Brisbane.

Entry takes you into the stunning bar area which is festooned with hanging cherry blossoms, Japanese lanterns and lights inside sake bottles, walled off to one side by a glass window of bamboo.

Here you can partake in a range of premium Japanese whiskeys, sakes and spirits as well as Penfolds Grange and even a $12,000 bottle of Remy Martin Louis XIII Cognac. You can also dine a la carte from a casual (but high end) menu which includes a sample of the omakase dishes.

Those booked in for the high end Omakase (chef's selection) dining experience are ushered behind a velvet curtain by a kimonon-d waitress to the pocket-sized Omakase room, which seats a maximum of 12. Here you'll enjoy an exquisite culinary journey of dishes prepared and chosen by chef Takashi Nami.

Good to know - Plates served in the bar are small and exquisite, with a price to reflect the quality - this is not the place for a big feed.

Need to know - The entrance to TakishiYa is tucked away on the left hand corner of the Emporium Hotel on Grey St, right next door to South Point.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
