Fourthchild

Ipswich

Fourthchild, a funky café & restaurant in Ipswich's historic Top of Town precinct, is not just an ambient space but a foodie's paradise, serving some of Ipswich’s best breakfast, lunch and dinner fare.

The arty venue offers several different dining spaces, ranging from a private, intimate dining room, a sun-filled outdoor back deck with stunning views across to St Mary’s Church and the Jacarandas when they’re in flower, plus the warmth of wood and the historic brickwork inside where you’ll be under the watchful eye of Boris the Bison.

Everything you can order on the food menu at Fourthchild is made onsite from scratch, from locally-sourced products and suppliers, using the freshest seasonal ingredients.  All food items are also available for takeaway – perfect if you’re heading for a picnic nearby or visiting friends.

The breakfast offerings are vast, but the favourites include the Grande Breakfast (eggs (poached, fried or scrambled), bacon, tomato, sausages, mushroom, wilted spinach on toast), classic Eggs Benny and the Rosti Stack (bacon, poached eggs, smashed avocado, watercress and pesto hollandaise). But, if you’re looking for a lighter start to the day, you should try the Salmon Cakes, the Vegetable Tiarne or the Mounties Breakfast (buttermilk pancakes, maple syrup, crispy bacon, whipped butter and fried eggs).

Lunch and dinner options are also plentiful, and include the likes of Moreton Bay Bug Linguine, Confit Crispy Skinned Pork Belly, Pumpkin & Cous Cous Salad and a range of delish burgers (gluten-free bread available on request).

Meanwhile, there are delicious lighter lunch items on offer, too, and include Salmon & Camembert Quiche, Gourmet Ruben Sandwich, a range of fresh, hearty pies (think chunky beef pie or curried chicken pie, plus vegetarian options and more), rib fillet steak sandwiches and a selection of freshly made and toasted sandwiches.

Make sure you leave room for something sweet to round off your meal. The dessert cabinet is always full of mouth-watering sweet treats such as baked cheesecakes, apple slices topped with a dollop of cream, chocolate eclairs and chocolate mud cake – just to name a few.

Fourthchild is fully licensed and has a drinks list that is quite impressive, with nearly 30 wines ranging from French champagne to fine Australian reds, white wines and rosés that are available by the bottle, with some also available by the glass.

There are craft beers on tap, plus the usual popular bottled beers, spirits and liqueurs to choose from, with the bonus of a substantial Cocktail List, featuring favourites such as Espresso Martini, Mimosa, Long Island Iced Tea and Bloody Mary, to name a few. If you’re after something a little different and you’re a chocolate lover, order a Toblerone (Frangelico, Kahlua, chocolate, honey and ice-cream) or go fruity and try a Red Corvette (Frangelico, Midori and fresh strawberries).

As you'd expect with a cafe, you can also grab great barista-made coffees and brewed teas, hot chocolates, milkshakes, fresh juices and healthy smoothies, so you'll find something for every age and taste to enjoy.

Need to know – Takeaway is also available for all their food menu items.

Nice to know – Not only is Fourthchild a great spot to head for a cake and coffee catch-up with the girls at any time of the day, but it also has a private function space downstairs that can seat up to 60-70 guests.
