Nitō brings a fresh spin on Japanese cuisine with charcoal-grilled dishes, inventive flavour combinations and a distinctly Australian touch to Fish Lane.
The latest venture from the team behind Clarence, who have created a unique and delectable menu combining Japanese ingredients, European techniques and quality Australian produce, with a focus on share-friendly plates and big flavours.
Start with barbecue eel and somen rosti, fried tiger prawns with golden curry Marie Rose or reef fish with white tosazu before moving on to charcoal-grilled mains. Highlights include Murray cod with tomato and kombu vierge, duck leg claypot rice, Gooralie pork chop and Westholme Wagyu flank.
There are also plenty of sides to share, including cabbage Caesar salad and steamed rice, while dessert brings golden sesame and hojicha tarts, yuzu pavlova and Neapolitan parfait.
Beyond the food menu, the drinks list features Japanese sake, Australian wines, signature cocktails and highballs.
The 70-seat restaurant sets a mood of its own with dark timber, glass blocks and rich orange and red tones, and a record player behind the bar keeps the soundtrack evolving throughout the evening.
