Newstead

Updated: May 15, 2026

Bosco is one of Brisbane's most moodily striking restaurants, fire-powered and found off the beaten track in a black Newstead warehouse that is a longtime home to Brewbakers bakery, which still operates from the rear of the space.

Step through the entrance to find an exquisite high-ceilinged cavernous space with handful of bar tables leading to the dining room, which is lined by a bar and open kitchen along one side and rows of tables partitioned by sheer curtains on the other.

The entire experience at Bosco is a feast for the senses, from the decor (this has to be one of the most aesthetic restaurants in Brisbane) to the exquisite food, which is cooked in full view over the parilla grill or the custom-made woodfired oven.

The delectable Mediterranean-flavoured seasonal menu is ever-changing and derives from the coastal and olive oil regions of Spain, France and Italy.

Handmade breads baked onsite in the rear bakery are a central feature of the menu, starting with mouthwatering morsels like gilda, Cantabrian anchovy, olive and pickled pepper on oven flat bread or duck rillets cannoli, Armagnac and spice.

Small plates to share include the likes of tuna crudo, stacciatella and tomato; root vegetables, citrus yoghurt and macadamia; or mussels and cider cream with como Vienna (a must-try).

More substantial dishes might include bay bug claypot rice; quail, boudin blanc and burnt apple; or king prawns with prawn head butter.

Largest plates to share include the likes of half Darling Downs chicken and vadouvan jus gras; black angus striploin with herbs d’Provence butter; whole 1 kg mud crab in infiernillo; and heritage pork tomahawk, carrot and quince.

For sides there's a choice of delicious bakers roasted potato, scalded cream and shallots; or baby gem salad, anchovy and warm pancetta; while desserts might include Bosco’s chocolate nemesis torta; triple cream gelato with strawberries or Crema Catalana, burnt orange and rhubarb.

Bosco Newstead

Bosco also has an outstanding wine list, curated to perfectly accompany the food, with varieties from Spain, France and Italy as well as Australia and New Zealand and a daily selection available by the glass.

Good to know - Bosco is the work of the talented folk behind Bar Alto in New Farm.

Need to know - There is a limited amount of on-street metered parking available on Austin Street and surrounding streets.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
