The Greenhouse is a lush social dining house surrounded by beautiful water gardens and greenery, sprawled alongside the river at Newstead.
The stunning venue is not only the go-to for breakfast, lunch and dinner but there's also a gelato cart and picnics available to enjoy al fresco on the surrounding parklands.
Guided by the seasons and the best local produce, The Greenhouse's modern Australian menu is all about the art of wood-fired and charcoal cooking. Diners are treated to a smoky, flavour-packed line-up that ranges from authentic French rotisserie and wood-fired pizzas to dishes perfected over an open flame.
A delectable selection of raw, cured and preserved plates includes greenhouse dressed oyster with sumac, cucumber, horseradish & lime granita; beef carpaccio; Greenhouse pickles; or scallop crudo with tomato water, lemon thyme oil & strawberry.
The tempting selection of small plates includes chilled prawn cocktail (with cognac mayonnaise & horseradish ketchup); woodfire baked beets with barrel aged feta, cavalo nero & porcini candied pecans; house preserved condabilla Murray Cod taramasalata with sweet potato shards; and smoked lamb shoulder cigar, salata & tzatziki.
From the Woodfired Grill are heavenly dishes such as local QLD prawns (butterflied, habanero vanilla butter, pineapple, fried shiso & curry leaves); grilled eggplant (charred, fresh and pickled, pistou, pistachio & ginger gel); and 250g Rib Eye Bachelor QLD gain fed Black Angus with a choice of sauce: Au Poivre, Béarnaise, Diane or Cafe de Paris butter.
From the Charcoal Grill; dishes include Yakiniku pork tomahawk, shaved wombok with yuzu Japanese mustard; Market Fish Fillet with greens, caviar beurre monté & shitake makrut lime butter; and seasonal roasted Qld vegetable & Goan curry sauce. And for something lighter there's a selection of wood-fired pizzas
Dishes to share include the highly recommended Rotisserie chicken (Golden Cockerel Mount Cotton Qld whole or half plus fries & cos salad with 48hr sage gravy); slow cooked pyrenees lamb shoulder w mint & jalapeño chutney and Dry Aged Duck Crown with sorrel, fresh berries & duck demi-glace. There's also a chilled seafood platter (prawns, oyster, bugs, scallops, crudo, escabeche & succulents) available on weekends only.
For dessert there's a choice of Tableside Tiramisu for 2; and Eaton Mess (seasonal Qld fruit woodfired & fresh).
And for breakfast (served Saturday and Sunday morning from 8-11.30), there's dishes such as avocado on croissant toast, Urban Valley mushrooms, salmon rosti or crepes with lemon curd and creme patisserie.
Good to know - there are also great value banquets and a bar food menu of delicious bites such as rotisserie chicken roll; seafood conserva with bread; charcuterie, kettle chips & guindillas; and wood-fired pizzas (including gamberi, margherita, prosciutto and Hawaiian.
