Overlooking the main playgrounds of Queens Park and a hop skip and a bow from the Japanese gardens, this spacious casual eatery with dining area opening via bi-folds to a lengthy cool verandah makes a great refreshment stop for park visitors.

And while at first glance it may seem that it's an impersonal order-at-the-counter crowd-feeding affair, it's not. The menu is extensive but it's prepared with care and this extends to the service. On offer are burgers, sandwiches (including gluten free options), desserts, cooked breakfast, and, on Thursday evenings, dinner.

There's also a decent sized children's menu as well as a line-up of old-fashioned lolly jars at the counter and just outside the entrance, the family cockatoo – Cocky Goodsir – continues to entertain visitors as he has done for 28 years.
