Three Girls Skipping

Although more of a corner coffee and cake nook than a fully fledged cafe, whimsically named food stop Three Girls Skipping has all the right ingredients.

With, as Caroline says, not a can opener or microwave on the premises, the light breakfasts (served till 1pm), lunches, tarts and pastries are made from scratch and/or baked on the spot and it shows.

Frangipani tarts, berry friands, éclairs, brownies and the macarons (rose, coffee, chocolate or tonka bean flavoured), not to mention the kids favourite in house marshmallows are train-trip worthy, especially when washed down with a Lindt hot chocolate or excellent Genovese brew.
