The Smug Fig

Greenslopes

Updated: Mar 12, 2026

The Smug Fig, one of Brisbane's fave brunch cafes, has relocated to slick, new digs in Greenslopes, dishing up the same great all day brunch fare along with expertly brewed coffee.

Perched on the corner of Jeavons Lane and Cleveland Street, the new locale is industrial chic with polished concrete flooring, glossy tiles, plenty of timber, pops of greenery, and a full-length wall mural that features the owners' dogs with 2 worlds - one Asian-inspired, one underwater - meeting in the middle.

The all-day brunch menu boasts breakfast classics like Bae (2 eggs your way, bacon, kraut, piccalilli and sourdough), Benedict (soft poached eggs with mortadella, sourdough and hollandaise) and Stack - half an avocado, halloumi, generous serve of bacon, and a perfectly poached egg on sourdough with a side of housemade relish.

For sweet tooths, there's pancakes with honeycomb cream, caramelised banana and butterscotch sauce, or French toast that changes depending on the season.

Lunch-type offerings range from falafel (chickpea falafel with buckwheat tabouli, black tahini 'yoghurt', fermented cherry and rose harissa) to tacos (fermented potato flat bread with fried halloumi and white cabbage with ranch dressing and green chilli hot sauce), and Tuckshop Bagel - house-made seeded bagel topped with maple glazed ham, cucumber, heirloom tomato, red onion, sprouts and piccalilli

In addition, there's a selection of sandwiches ready to grab-and-go such as sausage and egg burger on a milk bun, maple glazed ham and five cheese (mozzarella, pecorino, provolone, ricotta and aged cheddar) with Dijon mustard, or roast chicken with provolone and pickled green chilli.

Plus, the cafe offers Picnic Packs to go for 2 or 4 people, filled with tasty treats like Italian cured meat and cheeses, pickles and ferments, seasonal fruit, olives and lavosh

From 3pm, patrons can order share plates such as rocket and pear salad, confit chicken with green chilli hot sauce, purple sprouting broccolini with preserved citrus butter, or Brussel sprouts with duck fat and aioli; while dinner dishes (served from 5-8:30pm) include pork with apple puree and sauerkraut, lamb with stuffed zucchini flower and basil puree, or beef with pickled green tomato and fig leaf sour cream.

Alternatively, there's a charcuterie board for 2 piled with provolone, sopressa, mortadella, pickles, ferments, fruit, olives and more.

Coffee on pour is by Two Seasons, served along with freshly squeezed orange juice, cold pressed juices, milkshakes, smoothies, and house kombucha

The cafe is fully licensed with craft beer on tap, canned and bottled beer from local breweries - think Slipstream, Sea Legs, Ballistic to name a few - a concise wine list, and top-shelf spirits.

Nice to know - The cafe is bringing the nursery with them, with All Things Leafy opening next door in the not too distant future.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
