Snag & Brown

Annerley

Snag & Brown adds another notch to Annerley's foodie belt, residing in an old weatherboard cottage and dishing up delicious foodie fare for breakfast and lunch.

Perched on Ekibin Road, this cosy child and dog friendly café offers al fresco dining (on the tiny deck or shaded laneway), its own off-leash dog garden where pooches can play, and inside seating with a dining room (decorated with old prints and paintings), a retro-styled rumpus room decked out with scatter cushions, well-stocked bookshelf and vintage stereo.

Open daily, breakfast is an all-day affair, ranging from lighter fare like low gluten granola with coconut yoghurt, berry compote and almond milk, and avocado and roasted vine tomatoes on ciabatta with cashew cheese, sesame seeds and burnt lemon to heartier dishes such as double smoked maple bacon with slow poached eggs, roasted vine tomatoes and classic potato hash brown, and braised pork belly, black pudding, sweet potato and roasted onion hash brown, poached eggs, popcorn crackling and apple and caramelised onion puree.

Or for something sweet, try the highly recommended banana bread French toast with salted caramel banana and spiced macadamia mascarpone.

Lunch, served from 11am, includes homemade beef lasagne with panzanella salad, flash fried calamari with rocket salad, chicken and chorizo risotto and a marinated chicken open sandwich with thick cut grilled bacon, rocket and parmesan salad, avocado, aioli and potato twirls on dark grain vienna.

Child-friendly, the café offers scrambled eggs with potato hash brown and pork chipolata, poached egg and maple bacon on ciabatta toast or banana bread French toast soldiers for littlies (with a free froggaccino or fruit drink pouch).

Locally roasted Bear Bones espresso is on pour while tea is from locally owned and operated, organic West End Tea Company. There’s also freshly squeezed juices (known as mocktails), milkshakes, smoothies and Phoenix soft drinks.

Good to know - Snag & Brown is also dog-friendly, with a dedicated dog play area out back and puppycinos on the menu.
