Petrichor & Co is a cool chic all-day breakfast café with a Colombian flavour, on the corner of Racecourse Rd and Allen St, Hamilton.
Located in the base of a new commercial building, Petrichor & Co occupies a sunny north-facing spot facing Allen St and is a welcome addition to the leafy established neighbourhood.
The slick inviting space has an industrial feel (Besser blocks, concrete floors and ceiling) enlivened with hanging plants, bright patterned cushions, teal blue tiles and gold light bulbs suspended from an old ladder.
Everything at Petrichor & Co is made from scratch (including freshly-baked daily sweet treats, aioli, sauces and dressings), the bread, milk and beef are organic and eggs free-range from a carefully sourced farm.
On the All Day Breakfast menu are the likes of seasoned avocado on malted barley sourdough with smoky walnut and beetroot mousse and turmeric pickled cauliflower; Cassava Arepa (12 hr slow roasted pulled beef, guacamole, poached eggs & chimi churri; Sweet Potato, Chilli and Spring Onion Hotcakes; or Calentado (Colombian bubble and squeak with beans, rice, grilled corn, fried egg and tajaditas).
Come lunchtime choices include Spiced grilled chicken burger with guacamole and pineapple jam, Grilled haloumi and beetroot salad with cherry tomato salsa, Chipotle pulled pork tacos or 12 hour slow roasted pulled beef sandwich with a choice of fries or cassava chips.
In addition, there’s a small range of daily-baked sweet stuff such as muffins, carrot cake, banana bread and gluten-free slices.
Drinks-wise, Petrichor & Co serves Veneziano coffee, Elevation Tea, hot chocolate or Prana Chai Masala Blend as well as smoothies, shakes, green juice (apple, cucumber, celery, spinach and mint) or a range of fresh fruit and vegetable juices from which customers can choose their own blend.
Nice to know – Petrichor & Co is child-friendly, with plenty of room for prams, a communal table ideal for mother's groups, highchairs and a small kids menu.
